Briony Burns, never give up and always believe
I wouldn’t be the player I am today without Panthers Cubs.
It has pushed me to a whole new level mentally, physically and strategically. The experiences and memories I have made during my time in Panthers Cubs have been invaluable.
I have been a part of Panthers for two years being fortunate enough to make the Country squad in 2018 and the Academy team this year. The first year I trialled for Cubs, I remember being a ball of nerves. I was surrounded by girls with incredible talent and way more experience then I had. As I stepped onto the court for the first time in front of the Panthers selectors, I knew I had to leave it all on the court. Little did I know that these incredibly talented girls trialling with me would soon become my Panthers family.
Each Cubs training session comprised of exercises and activities that incorporated all aspects of netball. This included fitness, footwork, technic, mental mindset, healthy eating and game strategy. Panthers has given me the opportunity to work with a range of incredibly talented coaches who have pushed me to become a better version of myself both on and off the court. Thanks to the Panthers, that shy little girl in the corner from two years ago has grown into a passionate, strong, confident and determined netball player.
Being a part of Panthers means the absolute world to me. Having the opportunity to be a part of such a strong network of netball players and coaches has been and will forever remain one of the highlights of my sporting achievements. The knowledge and experience I have gained from Cubs has been invaluable. I have loved every second of being a Cub and look forward to reaching new heights with the Panthers next year and in the future.
